Community Resources 

Southwest Colorado is a very special place.

We are so fortunate to live in a community that has many resources to offer for families! We compiled a short list of some excellent resources that you can use if you live near or around Durango, Colorado. Please feel free to reach out if there are any we missed or upcoming events you know of that are inclusive!

  • The ARC of the Southwest is an amazing non-profit that supports neurodivergent families in many ways. If you are looking for a parent support group, need help advocating for your child within their school, or are looking for inclusive adult and child programs in the community, please utilize this awesome organization!   • The Durango, Ignacio, and Bayfield Public Libraries are all wonderful and have tons of free and fun activities. We recommend visiting their respective websites and using the events calendars to plan meaningful and fun outings.

  • This is a great site that you can visit if you want to see a quick snapshot of what is happening around town- https://www.whatshappeningdurango.com/.

  • Southwest Rides is an organization dedicated to providing affordable, safe, reliable, and accessible transportation that promotes independence and improved health outcomes for people with disabilities, those who are aging, and Veterans in our service area.   • School To Work Alliance Program (SWAP) is sponsored by San Juan Boces and supports neurodivergent young adults with successfully transitioning from school to the workplace. They are an excellent organization that can help with everything from skills training to job-coaching. Their website is https://sjboces.edlioschool.com/apps/pages/SWAP.

  • Adaptive Sports is a fabulous organization that has been prioritizing adventure for people with disabilities for decades. We are so fortunate to have a great program in the Durango area, please find more information here: https://asadurango.com/.

  • Durango is also home to a wonderful adaptive golf program, one of the only programs like it in the entire country! Please access more information about adaptive golf here: https://agpdurango.org/.
